這首Africa是由來自西非馬利的重量級歌手Salif Keita所演唱的, Salif因為遺傳的白化症曾在家鄉有過一段很艱辛的成長過程. 1984年遷居法國後, 他在音樂上的天分被更多人發現, 歐洲的樂迷們並不因他的白化症而排斥他, 之後他成為了非洲數一數二的流行歌手, 歌曲中常融合了西非,歐美與伊斯蘭音樂的風格.
